Carolina Canines For Service, Inc. - Service Dog Team, David and Saint

Carolina Canines is excited to announce the placement of our first specially trained Service Dog "Saint" with David Mickler Wednesday, Dec. 7th on "Lets Talk, UNCW & You, with Betty Ann Sanders" locally produced talk show.

"Saint" was introduced by Betty Ann Sanders and presented by Carolina Canines as a surprise holiday gift to David. The show aired Dec. 15th, 17th, 20th, 22nd on Time Warner Cable channel 5 - (photo (right) by Cathy Phillips, UNCW).

Saint, a 4 year old Newfoundland-Black Labrador Retriever mix was abandoned 3 years ago by his owner, then rescued and trained as a Public Education Dog by Rick and Dee Hairston (CCFS Founders). Saint now resides with David and his family where dog and recipient will undergo specialized training.

The program places service dogs with individuals with physical disabilities at no cost to the recipient to enhance their independence at home and in the community.

David has been a volunteer and board member of Carolina Canines for approximately 2 years and was Carolina Canines first official Service Dog applicant.
